SEMCOG is 40!

On January 19, 1968, SEMCOG held its organizational meeting in Ford Motor Company's headquarters auditorium. It's been an interesting 40 years! The links below provide some historical perspective and a look into some of the issues SEMCOG has grappled with throughout the years.

The year in which SEMCOG was founded —1968  — was perhaps one of the most tumultuous in history. We include a brief history of that year as perspective to understanding the times in which SEMCOG began. Want to know more? We highly recommend Tom Brokaw's book, Boom!, a reflection of the 1960s, as well as the History Channel's spin-off, 1968 with Tom Brokaw. The book and the DVD are available in SEMCOG's Information Center and can be borrowed by members.

Please check this page often during this year. We'll add new documents and also list upcoming events in celebration of SEMCOG's 40th year.
