The TIP is a list of transportation projects
receiving federal funding in Southeast Michigan. The Transportation
Improvement Program represents the priorities of cities and
transportation agencies for implementing the region's long-range
Regional Transportation Plan (RTP). The RTP documents the future
development of the transportation system. For a community or agency to
receive federal highway or transit funds, the project must first be in
the RTP. To get in the TIP, projects pass through a rigorous technical
review that determines the impact on our community's air quality,
environment, and population. In addition, financial analysis assures
funding is available for all projects. Comments from stakeholders and
the public are actively sought during the this process.
