Two college graduates in caps and gownsSEMCOG identifies and responds to regional issues impacting education in Southeast Michigan. We monitor and evaluate federal and state regulations that impact public education and distribute information on federal, state, and local programs that strengthen the public education system.

SEMCOG considers regional issues affecting SEMCOG’s education members including intermediate school districts, community colleges, and universities. Issues include:

  • school funding and infrastructure;
  • changing economy;
  • workforce development;
  • grant programs;
  • collaboration among districts; and
  • educational related legislation.
