Employment
SEMCOG has produced estimates of place-of-work employment that provide a detailed view of economic change at the community level. The estimates are broken down by industrial sector and cover two points in time - March 2002 and March 2005. The estimates do not include Farming, Construction, or Military jobs.
Place-of-work employment is needed as a basis for SEMCOG's forecast of population, households, and employment, and for the long range transportation plan. The estimates are based on the mapping of business-establishments as reported for wage and salary workers covered by state and federal unemployment insurance programs.
