As the region's planning agency for transportation, SEMCOG is responsible for coordinating the vision for a transportation system that is safe, accessible, and reliable, and contributes to a higher quality of life.

The Federal Highway Administration and Federal Transit Administration have certified SEMCOG's transportation planning process meets the applicable federal requirements. The 2008 Transportation Planning Certification Summary Report (112 KB) details the certification findings, including several commendations for work well done and recommendations for future progress.
