Regional Forecast long roadSEMCOG's Forecast provides a long-range and comprehensive view of future demographic and economic changes. It provides base data for updating the long-range transportation plan and other regional planning projects. Member communities use the data in planning for
 infrastructure and development needs.


SEMCOG's 2035 Forecast

SEMCOG's 2035 Forecast provides detail on population, households, and jobs for communities in Southeast Michigan.  The forecast numbers are provided at five-year intervals from 2005 through future year 2035.

This report summarizes forecast results for the region's 233 local communities and describes the methodology used to produce the forecast.
 

Population by Age Group by School District (PDF, 1 MB)
This report contains forecast population by five age groups, including school age children.  The data is reported at five-year intervals from 2005 through future year 2035 at the school district level.

Community Employment by Sector Report (PDF, 517 KB)
This report contains tables of SEMCOG employment estimates for sixteen employment sectors.  The data is reported at five-year intervals from 2005 through future year 2035 at the regional, county, and community level.

This table contains detailed employment data by sector at the community level in five-year intervals from 2005 through future year 2035.

2035 Regional Forecast Totals (Adopted March 2007)
SEMCOG's new economic forecast for Southeast Michigan includes extensive discussion of the region's economic restructuring and changing demographics. Tables contain population by age group and employment by 24 sectors, at 10-year intervals, 2005-2035.
