Walkable and Bikeable Communities

The nonmotorized transportation program is part of SEMCOG's Transportation Management System. Nonmotorized transportation usually means bicycling and walking since it does not involve a motorized vehicle. Everyone is involved in nonmotorized travel so it is important to provide safe pedestrian and bicycle travel ways. Nonmotorized travel is developed as part of regional, state, and federal transportation goals. SEMCOG is involved in a number of ways to meet these goals and assist our member communities in developing pedestrian and bicycle facilities. The nonmotorized transportation program includes data collection, technical analysis, and planning processes which support SEMCOG'slong-range transportation plan.
