Full-time Position Available: Environmental Planner/Engineer

SEMCOG, the Southeast Michigan Council of Governments, performs an important regional leadership mission, striving to improve the quality of life and prosperity of those in Southeast Michigan. Major activities are regional planning, and local government assistance in plan implementation related to transportation, environment, and community and economic development. SEMCOG currently has an opening in its Plan Implementation Department for an environmental planner/engineer. Knowledge of water quality issues, including storm water, watershed management, and water/sanitary sewer systems preferred.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Planning, Engineering, Environmental Policy, Natural resources, or a related field. The successful candidate will also have excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact and work with a range of external stakeholders such as federal, state, county, and local agencies. The candidate must also be able to collaborate with internal staff. Effective written, verbal, and presentation skills required, including a working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). Working knowledge of Geographic Information Systems is preferred.

Candidates must be able to work in an open, team environment, have strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks, and be able to adapt to and quickly learn new systems.
