2010 Aerial of Belle Isle in DetroitIn 2015, SEMCOG has partnered with the State of Michigan on their MiSAIL project, along with the seven counties; Livingston, Macomb, Monroe, Oakland, St. Clair, Washtenaw and Wayne and Detroit Water and Sewerage Department to acquire aerial imagery. MiSAIL is the Michigan Statewide Authoritative Imagery & LiDAR project.

The imagery will be available to all members by the end of the year. SEMCOG will distribute 1 foot pixel resolution imagery, and most Counties will distribute higher pixel resolution imagery. For more information on the details of this project, please contact Ann Burns.

This coordinated effort benefits the local, regional, and state partners. Projects such as this pass cost savings onto our members, increases collaboration in the state and region, and reduces duplication of effort.

SEMCOG has a very extensive collection of aerial imagery. All of the aerial imagery is in digital format.

To acquire any of the imagery send an e-mail to SEMCOG’s Information Center and include the following information:

  • Description of your area of interest
  • Flight year(s) in which you are interested
  • Your e-mail address, phone number, and additional contact information
