Project Summary |
| Prior to 2008 parks and recreation services for Howell, Genoa Twp, Oceola Twp, and Marion Twp. were provided by the City of Howell's Parks and Recreation Department. They worked for years to become an authority and in 2008 became one. Now that the services are provided by an authority there is more room to draw funds from the municipalities that were previously making minor contributions. Currently, funds are still provided by general funds from the municipalities, but there is hope that they will be provided by a millage in the future. It is expected to save the City of Howell $100,000 in the first year. Currently, the Authority leases its two facilities from the City of Howell and provides recreation enrichment, classes and special events. |
