Type of Venture: Shared Services
Agreement Type: Contractual

Project Summary
In 1996, after the EPA issued new regulations for salt storage, Berkley and Huntington Woods collaborated to build a joint community road-salt storage facility. The two communities shared the cost of constructing the new facility. While Berkley is responsible for all the salt purchasing, Huntington Woods pays for the amount of salt they use. This agreement reduced the costs incurred if the individual communities were to build their own facilities, and they both reduced the unit cost of the salt by purchasing in bulk.
