SEMCOG’s General Assembly meets on October 25
Governor Granholm to discuss the future of local government

Delegates and alternates will gather for SEMCOG's General Assembly (GA) meeting on Thursday, October 25, 2007, beginning at 3:30 p.m., at the Inn at St. John's (44045 Five Mile Road, Plymouth, 48170).

Governor Jennifer Granholm will address the GA on the future of local governments. Her remarks will be followed by an interactive discussion on the impact local governments will have on the future of Southeast Michigan. SEMCOG Executive Director, Paul Tait will moderate a panel of local government experts:

  • Arnold Weinfeld, Public Policy and Federal Affairs Director, Michigan Municipal League;
  • Justin King, Executive Director, Michigan Association of School Boards;
  • Tim McGuire, Executive Director, Michigan Association of Counties; and
  • Larry Merrill, Executive Director, Michigan Townships Association.

Agenda items include adoption of amendments to the 2030 Regional Transportation Plan (RTP) and designation of non-voting rights to the Executive Committee.

In an effort to make SEMCOG information available as widely as possible, the General Assembly agenda is posted electronically on SEMCOG’s Web site (see the Meeting Calendar). The online version of the agenda includes all portions of it available to SEMCOG electronically. The public is invited to comment on any item on the agenda.
