Lots of activities to enjoy during the last weekend of Water Week
SEMCOG, the Southeast Michigan Council of Governments, encourages everyone to take advantage of the last weekend of Water Week to celebrate, learn about, and enhance our abundant water resources in Southeast Michigan through recreation, education, and stewardship activities. On June 9th and 10th, there will be events celebrating Clinton River Day, Livingston Waterfest, and St. Clair County River Day. Activities range from nature hikes, canoe trips, fishing derbies, and fly-fishing lessons, to storm drain stenciling, river clean-ups, habitat restoration, and native landscaping events. A gubernatorial proclamation extends Water Week to a statewide event to promote "the coming together in celebration of Michigan's water; individual communities will have the opportunity to express and share unique approaches to water-related activities." Ours to Protect." public education program in 2004.
