Foreclosures

Foreclosure heading image

As local government leaders, you are all too familiar with the effects that the foreclosure crisis is having in your community. The good news is that help is available to local governments to address some of the consequences of foreclosures and, in some cases, the underlying causes.

To assist residents, local governments can be proactive by developing local programs, policies, and ordinances to protect the quality of their communities, buildings, and infrastructure. They can also help educate residents on the importance of getting assistance as soon as possible and point them to financial and foreclosure counseling.

The following Web pages contain resources and tools to help governments protect communities and residents from the effects of the national foreclosure problem.
