Carmine, Deputy Executive Director for SEMCOG, has more than 30 years of experience in various phases of transportation planning. Carmine retired from SEMCOG in June 2018.

As you know, the Regional Transit Authority for Southeast Michigan (RTA) has been incredibly busy conducting studies on three major travel corridors and developing an overall master transit plan for the region. As we begin the fall season, they are on schedule to complete these analyses in order to develop a proposal to put before the people in Wayne, Oakland, Macomb, and Washtenaw counties in November 2016. A series of public meetings is scheduled to get your input again.

A key part of their work includes trying to get as much input from citizens as possible and they have spent considerable and effort doing this. The RTA has used that information, along with analysis done by their consultants, to identify the needs and gaps in our transportation system and have some ideas on how to fix them. Now they are asking you to look over their work and help make some of the final decisions needed to complete the regional transit master plan so we can build public transportation that we all want and need.

Your input is extremely important to complete this work, so try to attend and offer your opinions. This is yet another chance to provide input to the transit plan you will be asked to approve and provide funding for in November 2016. A successful ballot proposal will provide the necessary funding to continue to build a regional transit system begun by the M-1 initiative and provide more and better transit service for more people in the Wayne, Oakland, Macomb, and Washtenaw counties.

In addition to asking for your input on the regional plan, the RTA is also asking for your input on the Gratiot and Michigan Avenue Corridor studies.

Hope to see you there.
