Visualize data for your community

Each day, the amount of information available to people is growing at a rapid pace. Likewise, more people are gaining access to this information and making data-driven decisions. As we collect, generate, and analyze vast amounts of data, it is essential that we present our findings in a clear and useful way.

SEMCOG is using data visualization tools to create new products at an ever-increasing rate. These include interactive maps and applications that allow customized data exploration. Using our open data portal, community profiles, and our map gallery, you can visualize data in numerous ways based on your community’s needs.

SEMCOG Map Gallery

SEMCOG’s map gallery features datasets presented in many different forms. These range from a map showing the digital footprint and attributes of every building in Southeast Michigan, another showing the daily traffic in our region, and an application where you can locate parks and amenities.

The Park Finder application allows you to locate parks near you, as well as search for parks with specific activities.

Make your own maps with SEMCOG’s Open Data Portal

SEMCOG has developed this portal as a central hub of GIS data in Southeast Michigan. The portal provides easy access to spatial data in several formats and services. Within our open data portal, you can view each dataset in tabular format or in ArcGIS Online and display the data in many ways based on your community’s needs. If you have GIS capability in your community, you can download and further analyze the data to meet your needs.
