Support and Technical Assistance for Federal Grant Applications through MIO TAC

SEMCOG is partnering with the State of Michigan’s MIO Technical Assistance Center to assist and provide technical assistance to local communities in Southeast Michigan in identifying federal grant opportunities, writing grant applications, and providing match for awarded grants.

The MIO Technical Assistance Center’s website provides additional guidance and information, including an application portal link to submit potential projects, trainings and webinars, and eligibility detail for Window 2 applications. There are two deadlines for applications for Window 2, depending on the program a community is interested in pursuing (March 8 and March 22), 2024.

This process is being administered through MIO TAC and questions regarding the new program should be directed to Kris Brady, Director of Technical Assistance Center, MIO. As the Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO), SEMCOG is responsible for providing a letter of support for project applications. Please complete this Letter of Support Request Form or send all project application materials to Ally Racisz, Planner, SEMCOG Transportation Planning and Programming. SEMCOG staff will follow up with applicant if additional information is requested.

Diagram showing the four-step grant support process from MIO Technical Assistance Center: 1) Grant identification through workshops and prioritization help; 2) Readiness analysis with a memo assessing project readiness and compliance; 3) Grant writing assistance including narrative development and cost-benefit analysis; 4) Match funding support providing full or partial matching funds. Each step includes services and notes that applicants must be selected by a planning organization where applicable.

Please coordinate with SEMCOG staff for projects you may be interested in applying for and we can provide direct assistance in supporting and prioritizing your project for MIO TAC funding.
